Position #0043:  Major Clinical Position
1.0 FTE (0.50 FTE Clinical and 0.50 FTE Education)
Start Date:  September 01st, 2021
Panel:  The successful candidate will take on an existing patient panel, will be the primary preceptor for family medicine residents and clinical clerks, and will be a PCN member.         

Clinical Teaching and Service Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical services to the patients of the Department of Family Medicine (DFM) Academic Teaching Clinics
  • Provide clinical teaching and assessment to medical students, clinical clerks, residents, and Alberta International Graduate (AIMG) Program Externs
  • Provide task and patient coverage for colleagues as necessary; provide continuity in time of need, flexibility to perform additional clinics may be requested
  • Participate in after-hours care including on-call coverage (MD 24) and evening clinics
  • Participate in the Alberta Triplicate Prescription Program
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical program development
  • Attend meetings such as clinical operations meeting, academic business meeting, and clinical team meetings when available
  • Participate in relevant education activities
  • Participate in relevant research and scholarship activities
  • Participate in interprofessional education

Remuneration:

  • Compensation will be provided through an ISA in accordance with the Department of Family Medicine AMHSP arrangement, to be presented and discussed with successful applicants

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in a family medicine clinic or program
  • Eligible for AHS Privileges through a Medical Staff appointment with the Section of Community Primary Care of the Department of Family Medicine
  • Eligible for an Academic Appointment within the Department of Family Medicine
  • Certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
  • Clinical teaching experience is required
  • Significant experience in medical education program leadership
  • Evidence of advocacy in primary care at a regional or provincial level
  • Experience in quality improvement is considered an asset
